* What is the admission procedure for the Full-Time program?
You must send the following document to apply for the Full-Time program:
- Curriculum Vitae
- Statement of intent
- Portfolio with 10 - 15 images in prints, CD, slides or in JPEG via Internet.
- Short essays on the following themes:
a. Choose 2 fairly well-known fine art photographers of any nationalities and write your thoughts about their work.
b. Familiarize yourself with advertising photography in US, French and Italian publications (i.e. "Vogue" or "Harper’s Bazaar"). Write your own comparative analysis of the different approaches.
Once we receive your application, we will send ourresponse within 15 days to inform you if you have been accepted or not.
Then you must validate your enrollment by sending a deposit.
• I’m a beginner - Do I have any chance of being accepted?
Our most important recruiting criterion is the MOTIVATION. We welcome beginners and advanced participants in this program.
• I already have a photography experience - What SPEOS has in store?
SPEOS tackles all aspects of photography. If you already master certain aspects of photography, you will make progress very fast, quickly use our facilities by yourself and focus on aspects which are new for you.
* What is your students profile?
Very various - certain students are in redeployment, others are students or some others just came to SPEOS to update their techniques.
• May I choose courses " à la carte" ?
The Full academic year is comprised of 2 independent but complementary semesters.
During the first semester, you will tackle studio, B&W darkroom, digital imaging, photojournalism, fine art and History of photography in a practical way.
You cannot choose your courses " à la carte " because courses are linked and it necessary to tackle them all in order to work professionally in photography.
The second semester will impose you certains courses and will also allow you to choose others.
It is the specialization phase.
• If I enroll in January, Could I attend the full academic year ?
The starting program in January lasts 6 months.
After a 4 months training in photographic technics, you can specialize in digital imaging.
• When should I apply for this program ?
As we study applications as we receive them and as places are limited, we advise you to enroll in July at the latest. Afterwards, you might be in the waiting list and will only know by mid-august if you can join the program.
• Is it possible to obtain financial aids through the school ?
SPEOS is a private school and cannot offer any scholarship or financial aid.
• Will ones obtain a diploma after the completion of the program ?
SPEOS delivers a private diploma and transcripts.
You can obtain credits from our transcripts in most American Universities.
Our goal is to prepare you for a photography career, so the most important for us is that you will acquire professional proficiency.
