• Where is SPEOS located ?
SPEOS is located to the east of Paris in the triangle Bastille/ République/ Nation.
The address is 8, rue Jules Vallès, 75 011 Paris.
• What is the nearest subway station ?
Charonne on the line 9: Pont de Sèvres - Mairie de Montreuil.
• What are the opening hours ?
-When classes are not in session, participants are expected to work on class projects in the darkroom, in the computer lab, in the studio, or in the city.
- Studios and classrooms from 9.30 AM to 6.30 PM
- Darkrooms from 9.30 AM to 5.30 PM
- Our office is open from Monday till Friday from 9 AM to 7 PM
• Is it possible to visit the school ?
Of course, if you have the possibility to come to Paris, we will be happy to guide a tour for you.
• In which language courses are conducted ?
Most of SPEOS courses are taught in English in priority. According to students request, certain courses can be taught in French.
• I’m 40 years old - May I enroll at SPEOS ?
There is no age limit to apply for our programs.
• Living expenses in Paris ?
You should budget approximately for the following:
- Transportation: the cheapest is to buy the monthly travelcard for 45 Euros per month which will allow you to travel in Paris by buses and subways.
- Living expenses: 480 Euros per month
- Housing: several options:
1) A room in someone’s home : 400 - 600 Euros
2) Studio apartment ( furnished) : 600 - 800 Euros
3) 2 bedrooms apartment (furnished) : 900 - 1200 Euros
• Expenses for the small photo materials ?
- Full-Time program: you should budget approximately between 0 and 200 USDollars per month.
The expenses vary according to the type of photographs that you make, digital or silver-based.
• Could you help me in finding housing ?
We have a housing file that we put at our Full-Time students’s disposal in priority.
Someone will help you in your search if you do not speak french or if you don’t know Paris.
For short stay, the hotel is the easiest housing option.
We will provide you with some hotels addresses according to your budget.
• Do you offer correspondence courses ?
It is difficult to teach photography in that way.

• Will the Stop System be taught ?
The Stop System is a method created by SPEOS and taught since 10 years in our school.
It is used in the studio lab and in the darkroom.
• Does SPEOS have agreement with American Universities ?
Even if we have a lot of foreign students, SPEOS is a French Company. We have exchange agreement with several American universities such as the Rochester Institute of Technologies, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Rhode Island School of Design, Hartford College, but we don't give credit, only your home university can.
